Contribution of Madhya Pradesh in the freedom movement

  • Freedom struggle in MP had been parallel to the freedom struggle of India.
  • In India, the first flag satyagraha initiated in Jabalpur, MP. Ajmal khan, and others reached Jabalpur to unveil the Tiranga on the top of Jabalpur municipality but the commissioner of Jabalpur police putoff and crushed it by foot. Pt. Sundarlal, Laxman Singh Chouhan, Narhari Agrawal marched a procession against the insult of the Tiranga.
  • Seoni satyagraha-It is assumed that the freedom struggle of MP in the real sense started from Seoni satyagraha in 1916.
  • Salt satyagraha-Seth Govindas and Dwarkaprasad Mishra led salt satyagraha at Jabalpur in 1930 to follow the national salt satyagraha led by Gandhiji.
  • Neemuch cantonment-The infantry and cavalry together revolted and put the cantonment on fire on 3 June 1857. Britishers' residences put on fires.
  • Gwalior revolt and Sagar revolt has also put contributions in INM.
  • The kings of Banapur and Shahgarh also revolted against Britishers.
  • The queen of Ramgarh Rani Avanti Bai revolted and defeated British resident Bardon.
